Five of the luckiest kids I know...

Here are three of them:

You see they grew up with the hardest working father. A man who dedicated himself 100% to every role he ever had; son, brother, friend, husband, father, and eventually Papa. My Dad sometimes thinks he yelled too much looking back, but what I remember most about him is that he always carried me when I was tired, played with us, kept us entertained with stories, made great shampoo hair-dos, did the best Halloween makeup, made great pizzas on Friday nights, was a comedian whose impression of Donald Duck was and is dead on, played a lot of road trip games with us, taught us everything, including how to swim, even though he doesn't know how, built us a family room, two houses after that, and is still building the lake castle(more on that in a later post). Not only was he a builder, but he was a great snuggler. I still remember curling up on the couch and resting my head on his belly instead of a pillow, or him carrying me through Disney or amusement parks when I was sooo tired. I remember all the little things that he did day by day, because I was lucky enough to have him there. Dad, I can't tell you what you mean to me, except to say if I had a Superman...you'd be mine. Thanks for always spinning the earth for us...we do appreciate it! Happy Father's Day Dad!

Two other little people fall among the list of those truly blessed with a Superhero Dad. Do these two look familiar?

I didn't know there could be a man as hard working and motivated as my own father, and yet it seems God lead me to one. These boys have a father who plays with them, chases them everywhere, stays home with them when they are ill, tucks them in everynight, gets them ready for school everyday and drops them off, spends his time being Hulk, or Batman, or whichever hero Z tells him he is. He is a Matt's go to guy in a crisis, and Z's best friend. He is my love, and one of only a few men I trust in the world. My husband grounds this entire family. He is the energy when everyone else is tapped out, he is the arm that holds you when you fall, he is the voice that sings(somewhat off key) to soothe, he is the listener to loads of babbles, and I don't just mean the boys. This man is a prankster who has a laugh that is contagious, and a giving heart and spirit. He is loved, so much by his sons, and his wife, and his puppy who sometimes drives him mad. Wayne, we love you. The boys couldn't ask for a more dedicated role model, and I couldn't ask for a better partner. Happy Father's Day!

Happy 1st birthday Emma...

See this little peanut?
Well... today she is one!
I seriously can't believe my neice is one today! I feel like she was just born, and yet she is crawling, and talking, and waving and gearing up to walk. She is such a little ray of light, and she has the sweetest smile. She is sassy, a little, like her Aunt, and she is easy going and fun loving like her Mom. She is energetic like her brother and cousins and fits right in among the boys
You have to love a girl who isn't intimidated by three boys! Emma, we are all so blessed to have you in our lives. I can't wait to watch you grow throughout this next year! HAppy 1st birthday our sweet girl!

Surgery,one week later...

I guess I was hoping sickness was past us. After watching Matt get tubes last week I truly believed that we were done with antibiotics and ear infections...at least till next flu season. No luck. On Thursday when I picked Matt up from daycare, the ladies told me that some fluid had been leaking out of his ears...seriously people...don't you think you should call? I got the boys and headed straight to the drs. They know me when I walk in...it doesn't matter which receptionist I see anymore...thank God for a zero copay!

Matt had an ear infection. The dr could see the disappointment on my face. She assured me the tubes were doing what they were supposed to be doing, but I felt defeated. Like I had put holes in my baby's ears for nothing. The last 24 hrs have been tough. Even though he has been on antibiotics for a day, Matt is still running a fever, although it is only 100-102. I still can't help but feel bad for him. He was miserable today, just wanting to be held, and just out of control. At one point he bite his brother in the face. I mean seriously, he is not a happy camper. By 6 p.m. he was in bed and in an hour I will be going up to give him more baby Tylenol and water. Sickness sucks...even when it is minor in comparison to some people's struggles.

I have been racking my brain for why this happened and the best I can come up with is that water must have gotten in his ear. On Monday they took the kids in to the water park and Matt was splashing water, I bet some got in to his ear and caused the infection. I will be getting him some sets of the molded ear plugs so that he can play in sprinklers, go swimming, and splash in his water table this summer. Considering the alternative, this is a lifestyle change we will have to make. On a bright note, even though he is sick, the fluid isn't trapped inside of his head...I'm sure its slightly more comfortable, even though he seems to be effected more this time.

Two weeks...two weeks and I will be a SAHSM...I am looking forward to spoiling my babies, and spending as much time as I can with them healthy and happy!

Twas the night before minor surgery...

Tomorrow is a big day for us. It is the day that my baby gets tubes in his ears. I know I know, its not a major surgery and a million kids unfortunately have been through way worse, but did I mention this is MY baby? I mean it kind of made me sad that he will get anesthesia before he gets a hair cut. And while this little man's ears are not perfect internally, I'd say that he's pretty darn perfect I just love his little face, his imperfect ears, and of course his devilish smile:
Mattie-I hope you're up and running around again well before this time tomorrow. And from here on out I hope to see many more smiles, and a lot less clingy cries of pain. Please just say a prayer for my baby boy tonight if you can.
